6. The Patch
The birth control patch contains estrogen and progestin (no surprise there) and stops ovulation like the pill. For this method, you simply stick on a patch once a week and you’re protected. You can stick it somewhere inconspicuous, like your belly, back, or butt. The hormones in the patch enter your bloodstream when they’re absorbed into your skin. If you’re using this method, periodically check to make sure the patch hasn’t fallen off. If it’s not properly applied, the corners can lift and mess up the amount of hormones you’re receiving.
