10 Symptoms of Syphilis

2. Swollen Lymph Nodes

Swollen lymph nodes can happen during several different types of infection. It is one of the rare symptoms of syphilis that occurs during both the first and second stages of infection. While swollen lymph nodes are not necessarily indicative of syphilis in particular, they should be seen as a warning sign of a general infection. Fortunately, the swollen lymph nodes are present alongside many of the other symptoms of syphilis. This makes a diagnosis and then proper treatment much easier. Because swollen lymph nodes are apparent in both the first and second stages, they can provide a warning sign even for those deeper into the progression of the infection.
