3. Hair Loss
The second stage of syphilis follows the appearance of the first chancre sores. This stage may take up to two-and-a-half months to appear, but it does bring with it new symptoms. Sudden or accelerated hair loss is a symptom of the secondary stage of syphilis, appearing in both males and females who have been infected. Hair loss from syphilis is, however, easy to confuse with typical hair loss. If an individual experiences sudden hair loss alongside more common symptoms like swollen lymph nodes and sores, hair loss becomes a more likely indicator of syphilis.
