7. Oral, Anal, or Vaginal sores
In addition to the initial sores, it is common to have later-stage sores in the mouth, anus, or vagina. All three areas represent the type of mucous membrane through which the infection is transmitted and thus are logical sites for new sores to appear. These sores often appear to look a bit like warts, and can also appear around the skin folds. The appearance of these sores is not universal during second-stage syphilis, but is common enough to cause concern. If you have any type of suddenly-appearing sore, visiting a physician is often the right action to take.
