9. Dementia

Dementia is a symptom of tertiary syphilis. Characterized as a general downturn in cognitive abilities, dementia can take many forms. Unfortunately, the long incubation time of syphilis makes it difficult to tell if the dementia symptom is part of the syphilis infection or if it is connected to other age-related issues. It is, however, a tell-tale sign of tertiary syphilis when coupled with other late-stage symptoms.
