Women with endometriosis often experience substantial blood loss during menstruation. Blood clots are often also apparent during the menstrual cycle. If periods involve only leaving the house with a change of clothes or always needing to be near a bathroom, despite changing pads and tampons excessively, contact a gynecologist. Soaking through pads and tampons in a much shorter time-frame than what is listed on the box is an indication that something is wrong.
