3. Fever
As the diverticula pouches form, it’s common for a fever to develop. Your body’s temperature may climb to upwards of 100.4 Fahrenheit. Along with the cold, you’ll likely feel body chills, which indicate peritonitis. This is a condition where your abdominal membrane has been infected. This fever shows that diverticulitis can bring on a whole host of symptoms. Since these symptoms can often be attributed to other causes, many people fail to recognize that they might have diverticulitis. Most people identify their diverticulitis after recognizing other symptoms. For example, pain in the lower abdomen, diarrhea, fever, and nauseous feelings.
