4. Tenderness in the Abdomen
One of the most telling symptoms of diverticulitis is a feeling of tenderness in your lower abdomen. This feeling can trigger urinary issues, painful cramps, bloating, rigidity, and distention. Often, these symptoms don’t present themselves until a sudden attack of pain strikes. The abdominal pain you feel, ultimately caused by diverticulitis, can indicate rectal bleeding, blockages in your digestive system, fistulas forming between organs and tissues, tears or infections, and/or a ruptured colon.
