3. Vegetables

If you are experiencing a bout of diverticulitis, it’s not the time to be filling up on gas-producing vegetables. Cruciferous vegetables like cabbage, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and broccoli are particularly gassy. It’s also a good time to stay away from salads made with raw vegetables or greens like lettuce, grated carrots, corn, tomatoes, or peas. Onions and garlic are best left off the menu during diverticulitis flare-ups, too.
