7. Alcohol
Diverticulitis and alcohol do not necessarily go hand in hand. But, moderate alcohol consumption, a 12 oz. serving of beer, 5 oz. wine, or 1.5 oz. liquor, will probably not affect diverticulosis. On the other hand, if you are experiencing a diverticulitis flare up, it is best to avoid alcohol until symptoms have subsided. Be sure to discuss any concerns with your physician, especially if he or she has prescribed medication.
