9. Diverticulitis Medication
Antispasmodic medications reduce diverticulitis pain in mild cases of the illness. The medication minimizes any cramping in the stomach and intestines. It works by slowing the normal movement of the gut and relaxing the muscles. Examples of antispasmodic medications include atropine and hyoscyamine. These belong to a class of medications known as belladonna alkaloids. Side effects include dry mouth, dizziness, and blurry vision.
