9. Osteoporosis and Your Diet
There are a lot of different foods you can eat to increase your levels of calcium and vitamin D. The best way to get your calcium is with dairy. Dairy includes milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. You can also get calcium from some vegetables, proteins and legumes. For example: almonds, hummus, kale, artichoke. If you’re trying to get vitamin D through food, the best foods to eat are fish and dairy. Salmon, swordfish, milk, and egg yolks are all rich in vitamin D. Alternatively, supplements can provide all the recommended doses. As with all supplements, talk to your doctor about whether you need to take any.
