8. Sleeping with Sciatica

If you are dying for a good night’s sleep, there are a few things you can do to make it easier to do with sciatica. The easiest bedtime tip is to sleep with a pillow (or two) under your knees. By lifting your knees, you keep your lower back in contact with the bed and reduce the pressure put on your lumbar spine. If you want to treat yourself, try having a warm bath before bed. If you hate baths – because fair enough – try a warm beanbag or heat pack to relax your back. Lastly, and this option isn’t for everyone, try sleeping on a firmer surface. For some, this might be a firm mattress, and for others it might be sleeping on the floor with a yoga mat. Whatever you choose, good luck and sweet dreams.
