8 Common Causes of Testicular Pain

2. Epididymitis

Behind your testicles, there is a coiled tube that acts as a storage and delivery channel for sperm called the epididymis where sometimes inflammation may occur. The inflammation may spread to the testicle leading to epididymitis a form of testicular inflammation. Bacterial infections are the most common cause. Coliforms – bacteria that live in the intestines- and STDs such as chlamydia and gonorrhea that make their way through the urethra are the most likely culprits. Antibiotics may remedy mild cases but if it becomes serious surgery may be required to remove part or all of the epididymis.

Some of the symptoms include:

  • Sore testicle
  • Painful ejaculation
  • Frequent need to urinate
  • Swollen testicles
  • Traces of blood in the semen
