6. Genital Itching
Itching around the penis or anal area is symptomatic of genital herpes, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis. If the itching is confined to the anus, gonorrhea may be a likely culprit. Genital herpes causes itching around the genitals, buttocks, and thigh area, particularly the inner thighs. Finally, a trichomoniasis infection tends to cause itching in the penis. Hepatitis infection can also cause generalized itching as a result of dry skin when the liver becomes inflamed.
