5. Even Receiving Partners Can Catch STIs
Most information about oral sex and STIs focuses on your risk of catching an STI when you are the one giving oral sex. However, it is actually possible to get an STI on your genitals when you are the receiving partner. If the person giving you oral sex has some sort of mouth or throat infection, they can pass that infection to your genitals. For example, you could end up with symptoms of chlamydia following oral sex from a person with chlamydia from the throat.
