3. Diagnosis
Other conditions, infections, and sexually transmitted diseases have symptoms similar to anal herpes. The only way to get an accurate diagnosis is to visit a doctor. The doctor will do a physical exam and also draw a blood sample to ensure they can make a precise diagnosis. To verify the cause of the infection, the doctor may also conduct additional testing. The blood sample will be sent off to a laboratory to be analyzed. Once the results from the blood tests are back from the lab, the doctor can then make a more accurate diagnosis of the presence of anal herpes.
