Currently, doctors and researchers have not yet discovered a cure for anal herpes. Therefore HSV-II is considered a lifelong condition. But with the improvements in anti-viral therapy, people with the condition now go a lot longer in between breakouts. Often the virus remains dormant for years. But even when the condition is inactive, it’s still essential the person with it live a healthy lifestyle, avoid things that could cause flare-ups and always practice safe sex.
