5. Baking Soda
Applying baking soda on your sores may reduce the length of an outbreak. If you have sores that are secreting some sort of goop and feel painful, then you can use baking soda to dry them out. It also serves as a means of relieving some of the itching and pain. First you must grab a cotton ball and moisten it. Then dip it in some baking soda. Very carefully dab the cotton ball around your open sores, creating a layer of baking soda around the painful areas. You should repeat this process as many times as necessary. Use a new cotton ball each time so that the baking soda is not contaminated. It is important to not substitute the baking soda with cornstarch, as cornstarch is a great way for the bacteria to breed and the sores to spread.
