Common Herpes Questions – Answered

3. What Does Herpes Look Like?

Herpes appears as a group of small red blisters that will turn into lesions or sores. The liquid-filled blisters are usually painful and itchy and typically burst, scab, crust, and disappear on their own within a few days or weeks. Blisters can develop on the lips, in the mouth or throat, on the penis, scrotum, vagina, thighs, buttocks, near the rectum, or even on the cervix in women. There is usually no scar left behind after the sore heals. See What Herpes Looks Like
